original rugs and wall hangings combining hooking and braiding

Paradise was started with a challenge by my friend Karen Kamenetzky who wondered if I could not be so literal. This was my first attempt at Free Motion quilting a Charmeuse Silk background. I embellished it with glass small beads and hooked using silk yarn, wool, silk, and taffeta. The braid is a combination of the same fabrics. The orange was a suggestion of Sharon Myers in my fiber crit group. After studying the center I gave into adding the birds, bugs, sun, and moon in the free form border plus the 9 Loop Braided Center help hold it together
