Remember the Oceans

2017

Remember the Oceans was started at Sauder Village 2017 in a class called Google Earth taught by Linda Pietz. I chose Martha’s Vineyard.

The turquoise areas in the hooked center are the actual locations of water on the Vineyard, the round areas represent the forest and the lined areas represent the fields or development. The beige braid represents the beaches and the braid and hooked areas in the blue braid, after the beach, represent the ocean surrounding the island. I used silk, taffeta, and wool in the hooking and braiding.
